COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson man was arraigned on three charges including two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct during an arraignment on Thursday in Branch County District Court.
27-year-old Jonathon Jay Wyant was charged in connection with an alleged incident that according to Branch County court documents took place on Ralston Road sometime in either 2013 or 2014.
The alleged victim was a girl who was either seven or eight-years-old at time.
Wyant and the alleged victim did not see each other again until 2021. Court documents state that after seeing him, it brought back a lot of memories and she then informed her mother.
Wyant was arrested following a Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigation and booked at the Branch County Jail on Thursday.
Besides the two C.S.C. counts, Wyant has also been charged with Children-Accosting for Immoral Purposes.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of the defendant and bond during Thursday’s arraignment was set at $150,000.
A no contact order was issued on behalf of the alleged victim should bond be posted.
A probable cause hearing was set for next Thursday with a District Court preliminary exam scheduled for May 3.
