COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Girls softball team swept an Interstate 8 doubleheader from Marshall on a chilly Tuesday night at Rotary Field by scores of 7-1 and 7-3.
First game winning pitcher Alexis Bills struck out 14 batters including 10 straight at one point. She set down the first 16 batters in a row and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. Bills also had two RBI’s. She along with Jayla Foster, Kenzie Schied, and Brooklyn Kerry all had two hits.
The Cardinals were down 3-1 in the nightcap before scoring four in the last of the fifth. Brianna Omo snapped a 3-3 tie with a two-run two-out bloop single that put Coldwater ahead for good. Foster, Scheid and Ava Longstreet all had two hits while Kerry scored twice. Scheid struck out seven in earning the victory in the circle.
Coldwater is now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Interstate 8.
