COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A request to extend a contract with Republic Services of West Michigan for one year was approved on Monday night by the Coldwater City Council.
The current contract for refuse and recycling services expires at the end of May.
The City Council has expressed an interest in rebidding the contract when it expires.
City Manager Keith Baker says there has been some interest from other companies.
There would be no changes to the current terms during the one year extension.
A Request for Proposals for a new five-year contract has been prepared by the city but the one year extension was requested since the current contract expires in about a month and it was felt there wasn’t enough time to get the RFP’s out.
