COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a quote of over $57,400 from Phoenix Safety Outfitters on Monday night so that each member of the Coldwater Fire Department can get a second set of turnout gear.
Coldwater Fire Chief Dave Schmaltz said the additional set was part of the recent contract negotiations between the city and members of the International Fire Fighters Association Local 2555.
The quote from Phoenix was the lowest of the three quotes submitted.
A full set consists of a helmet, coat, pants, boots, gloves and eye protection.
All turnout gear has to be removed from service 10 years after the date of manufacture.
The second set of turnout gear will be funded by a portion of the City’s allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act.
