HOMER, MI (WTVB) – It was a tough afternoon for the Quincy Orioles baseball team as they dropped both ends of a Big 8 Conference doubleheader at Homer by scores of 5-4 and 9-1.
The Orioles took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning against an undefeated and state ranked Homer team in the first game but the Trojans rallied for three runs to pull out the victory.
Homer carried the momentum over and went on the score five runs in the first inning of the second game and never looked back as the Orioles were held to just two hits.
Brady Mescher led the Orioles with a two run home run, the first of the season for the Orioles.
Hunter Tinervia had two hits and Riley Miner, Davin George and Brennen Allman added a hit for the Orioles.
The Orioles swiped six bases in game one led by Ethan Copas and Tinervia with two each.
The two Quincy hits in the nightcap were both doubles. Mescher’s double scored a run. The other double was from Tinervia. Miner stole three bases in the defeat.
