COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Treasurer Steve Rutz told County Commissioners during their work session last week that effective on June 1, the option of purchasing dog tags in Branch County will be available online.
He says it help get more people to comply with the law and bring in additional revenue.
Dog tags would then be mailed after you apply on line.
Any dog, four months or older, should have a dog license in Branch County. Branch County veterinarians will be able to issue dog tags as well.
Under a state law and a Branch County Ordinance, all dogs have to be licensed within 30 days of turning 4 months old or within 30 days of acquiring a new dog.
Licenses can be purchased at the Treasurer’s Office inside the Branch County Courthouse in Coldwater. The Treasurer’s Office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm.
A current rabies certificate is needed to purchase a dog license.
Licenses go on sale every year on December 1st and can be purchased without penalty through March 1st.
