UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Harper Creek won both the boys and girls team titles on Friday night at the Union City Invitational while a member of the Quincy girls track team earned a top individual honor.
Harper Creek won the boys meet with 157 points followed by Reading with 110 and Concord with 70. Union City was fourth with 57 points while Quincy was seventh with 34 points.
Union City’s Logan Cole won the discus and took second in the shot put. Quincy’s Ashtyn Morris and Gabe Watson finished second and third. Morris and Watson were third and fourth respectively in the shot put. Other top finishers for the Chargers were Riley Laird who was third in the 200, Jason Shoop was eighth in the 3200, Nathaniel Maurer was third in the 300 hurdles,
Quincy’s Ashtyn Morris and Gabe Watson finished second and third in the discus. Morris was third in the shot put. Quincy’s Noah Pearson was sixth in the 400 while Corey Turner was third in the pole vault while Jachin Murray finished fifth and Ethan Hollister was sixth in the long jump.
While Harper Creek won the girls meet with 127 points, Quincy was close behind with 108 ½ points and Union City was third with 69 points.
Quincy’s Nikkia Cronk was named the winner of the Deo Olmstead Most Valuable Female Athlete award as she won the 100 and 200 as well as the high jump.
Her teammate Sophia Snellenberger won the shot put and discus. Snellenberger broke her school record in the discus with a distance of 141 feet, seven inches.
Quincy also won the 400 relay.
Union City’s Nevada Gillons won the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.
