COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Water Department recently completed hydrant flushing but it took longer than usual due to malfunctions at the plant.
B.P.U. Director Paul Jakubczak told the CBPU Board on Wednesday night that as a result, some customers experienced extremely dirty water.
Coldwater B.P.U. Water and Water Resource Recovery Facility Superintendent Brian Musselman said there were issues with some of the plant’s valves.
The hydrants are flushed twice a year and Mussleman says it’s done to make sure the hydrants work properly and to move out stagnant water.
He adds hydrants are flushed because it helps municipal insurance rates concerning fire protection.
