COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another step in the process of Union City’s withdrawal from the Michigan South Central Power Agency took place during Wednesday’s Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors meeting.
The CBPU Board approved a resolution and agreement which assigns and assumes the allocation of the Village of Union City’s interests under the AMP Power Sales Contract which will be divided between the cities of Coldwater and Marshall.
The M.S.C.P.A. Board approved the agreements last October to allow the village to withdraw from the agency and assign their transmission rights and power supply contracts from the AMP Fremont Energy Center to the two cities.
The Coldwater B.P.U. Board and the Coldwater City Council approved a Withdrawal and Allocation Adjustment Agreement last November.
B.P.U. Director Paul Jakubczak said it was a clean up item after the previous action was taken.
Coldwater’s share will equate to 716 kilowatts. Jakubczak says this additional resource will be added to their current shares to bring their total ownership interest up to nearly 19,000 kilowatts.
The resolution and agreement will be forwarded to the City Council for their final authorization.
