BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles were swept by Springport, Bronson got a split with Homer and Union City won both ends of a twinbill on a busy afternoon of Big 8 Conference baseball.
Quincy dropped two games to Springport by scores of 8-7 and 8-3. Grant Holroyd led Quincy in the first game with two hits. Karsen Maurer had a double and a triple.
Riley Miner led the Quincy offense in the second game with two hits. Holroyd and Hunter Tinervia added doubles. With the losses to Orioles dip below .500 for the 1st time this season.
Bronson dropped their opening game to Homer 7-5 but the Vikings came back in the nightcap to win 6-2.
Reagan Mayer and Nolan Ray both had two RBI’s in the first game.
Mayer was the winning pitcher in the second game. He also had two hits while Owen Kimmons had two RBI’s.
Union City swept a doubleheader with Concord by scores of 10-3 and 7-5.
Wade Hoffman had three of the Chargers 12 hits in the first game while Phoenix Elkins drove in five runs. Winning pitcher Kyle Johnson struck out 10 in five-plus innings of work.
Second game winning pitcher Ryan Zweng helped his own cause with three hits. He struck out nine in five plus innings of work. Hoffman and Tyler Wagley both had two RBI’s.
The Chargers are now 10-4 overall and 6-3 in the Big 8 Conference.
