UNION TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man had to be cut out of his car Monday afternoon when it crashed on Mauer Road west of Hodunk Road.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says it happened just after 3:30 p.m. when 26-year-old James Potter lost control of his vehicle.
Deputies found the passenger car struck a tree on the roof, folding the passenger car directly down into the front driver and passenger compartment. Potter was trapped and had to be freed by Deputies and the Union City Fire Department with the Jaws of Life.
The Deputy’s preliminary investigation shows Potter’s car was west bound on Mauer Road when it lost control, slid off the road and rolled over into a tree. The roof of the car impacted the tree during the rollover.
Potter was treated and transported to Oaklawn Marshall Hospital by Marshall Ambulance Service.
Sheriff Deputies are still investigating the crash.
