BUTLER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department assisted Hillsdale County Deputies on Monday afternoon with the arrest of two stolen vehicle suspects in the area of Robinson and Clarendon Roads.
Branch County Sheriff Deputies were monitoring Hillsdale County Sheriff radio traffic and heard a 2022 Maroon Chevrolet Suburban had just been stolen from a store in Litchfield.
Hillsdale County notified Branch County Deputies they had a caller on the phone, stating the vehicle was entering Branch County, near the Robinson Road area.
Two Branch County Sheriff Deputies positioned themselves in the area of Robinson and Clarendon Road.
The stolen Suburban came over the hill and the Branch County Deputies cut off the stolen vehicle.
After a Felony stop was conducted, the two Deputies took a 23 year-old man and a 32 year-old woman into custody.
The Sheriff’s Department says there was a loaded handgun in the vehicle.
The two subjects gave deputies false names.
When Hillsdale County Deputies arrived, they were familiar with the two suspects, due to just recent prior arrests of the two for stealing vehicles. One of the stolen vehicles resulted in a fatal accident in Jackson County in March.
The suspects and vehicle were turned over to Hillsdale County Deputies.
