UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City American Legion and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 196 will be holding a Silent Ride for Landen Risner this Saturday.
The six-and-a-half mile bicycle ride will start at the Bucket at 10:00 a.m.. In case of rain, it will be held on May 28.
The Legion Riders, the Union City Police Department and the Union City Fire Department will provide an escort.
The ride will honor those who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roads in order to bring awareness that everybody must share the road.

Risner died at the age of 13 in April of 2021 nearly two weeks after he was struck by a hit-and-driver.
He was among three children who were struck while they were riding their bikes in the area of Ralston and Arney Roads near their Sherwood Township home.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the youngsters, 43-year-old Daniel Gerard Silich of Sturgis, was ordered to serve between 13 and 25 years in prison on May 2 after he entered no contest pleas to three charges.
