He was born June 16, 1945 to Luther A. and Elizabeth (Frisby) Ledbetter Sr. in Knox, IN. On April 25, 1964 he married Linda L. Winfrey in Knox, IN and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2017. Jake had worked at Bundy Tubing, now T.I. Group as an engineer until his retirement. He was a hardworking man that valued his family, his faith, and anything automotive.
Jake attended Friendship Baptist Church in Jonesville and had been a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Knox, IN where he not only established his relationship with God, but also met the love of his life Linda.
He found himself most at home within his own garage where he enjoyed working on vehicles with his vast and always growing collection of tools. Jake was particularly fond of Dodge and their Cummins engine and whenever they had the time he and Linda always loved to take a cruise on Jake’s prized Kowasaki KZ-1000 motorcycle, “the Kow.” Though there were many engines, vehicles, and projects Jake worked on, his greatest achievement and passion was always his family. He will be dearly missed as a father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Jake leaves behind his daughter Sherri (Jim) Burge of Coldwater; his siblings Donald Ledbetter and Kathleen (George) Werner Sr. both of Wanatah, IN; his two grandchildren Justin (Rebecca) Burge, Sara (Jason) Bral; three great grandchildren Benjamin Burge, Elizabeth Burge, Jonah Burge and his loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to his wife Linda, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Arthur A. Ledbetter, Lester L. Ledbetter, and Luther A. Ledbetter Jr.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or ProMedica Coldwater Hospice.
