JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals wrapped up the Interstate 8 baseball championship on Tuesday night with a doubleheader sweep of Jackson Lumen Christi.
The Cardinals defeated the Titans by scores of 1-0 and 6-4 as they extended their winning streak to five straight.
First game winning pitcher Nate Tappenden tossed a two hit shutout and struck out 11.
Cole Barker’s RBI single in the second inning was all the offense Coldwater needed.
Brock Thornton was the winning pitcher in the second game while Joe Closson earned the save.
Brynden Massey had three hits in the second game for Coldwater while Tappenden had two hits and two RBI’s.
Carter Bordner and Cole Barker both had two hits.
Coldwater finished 12-2 in the conference and are now 18-10 overall.
