LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s unemployment rate in April went down a tenth of a percent from the previous month to three-point-six percent according to data released Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
Their report stated that not seasonally adjusted jobless rates fell in 13 Michigan labor market areas between March and April,
Associate Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives Wayne Rourke said, “Michigan’s regional labor markets were stable in April. Payroll jobs rose throughout most regions as seasonal industries, such as construction and leisure and hospitality, added jobs during April.”
The report showed Branch County had the 12th lowest unemployment rate among Michigan’s 83 counties.
Unemployment rates also went down slightly in neighboring counties.
St. Joseph County had the tenth lowest unemployment rate of all Michigan counties at three-point-four percent, Hillsdale County was at four percent while Calhoun County was at four-point-six percent.
Michigan’s unemployment rate in April was four-point-three percent.
Unemployment rates ranged from two-point-seven percent in Livingston County to 13-point-seven percent in Mackinac County.
