BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Monday was a time to pause and honor American military members who died while serving their country.
Memorial Day ceremonies were held throughout Branch County under sunny skies .
The Coldwater ceremonies took place downtown at the Four Corners Park, Oak Grove Cemetery and at the “Gathering of Flags” War Memorial on Flag Hill.
Master Chief Timothy Tracy of Quincy was the keynote speaker and he thanked everyone who attended.
During the ceremonies at Oak Grove Cemetery, Joe Renshaw read a history of Memorial Day, as written by Dave McDonald.
The baton was passed on Monday in Coldwater as it was the last year former Mayor Jerry Ford organized the ceremonies. Renshaw will be handling the duties starting in 2023.
Parades and ceremonies honoring fallen American military members were also held in Union City and Quincy.
