COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals celebrated Senior Night and extended their winning streak to nine in a row as they swept a doubleheader from Three Rivers on Tuesday night at Lowe Field by scores of 11-1 and 17-2.
First game winning pitcher Cam Heineman tossed a one hitter and struck out seven batters.
Joe Closson had three hits in the opener while Logan Farmer drove in three runs.
Coldwater used a 12 run fourth inning to end the second game on the mercy rule.
Nate Tappenden was the winning pitcher.
Brynden Massey led the offense in the nightcap with four hits and five RBI’s. Cole Barker had three RBI’s while Brock Thornton tripled and drove in two runs.
Coldwater improved their record to 22-10.
They will host Sturgis in the Division One district semifinals at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning after the Trojans defeated Battle Creek Central 15-0 in a pre-district game on Tuesday night.
