BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Friday afternoon’s windy conditions may have resulted in a crash on U.S. 12 west of Wheeler Road that took the life of a motorcyclist.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at about 4:00 p.m.
They say a pickup truck driven by 79 year old Terry Edward Teall of Coldwater was traveling west on U.S. 12 while the motorcycle driven by 45 year old Richard Manuel Kamin of Trenton was heading east. A witness stated a gust of wind may have caused the motorcycle to cross the center line and collide with the rear driver’s side of the westbound pickup truck, throwing Kamin from the motorcycle.
Kamin was wearing a helmet but he suffered fatal injuries.
Teall suffered minor injuries and was treated by LifeCare Paramedics at the scene.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Bronson Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance, The Michigan State Police and the Branch County Road Commission.
The accident remains under investigation.
