COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Council on Aging asked the Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday to replace a medical transportation van with the use of ARPA funds to cover most of the costs.
C.O.A. Executive Director Amy Duff said they had already budgeted to replace the van this year and they are line to get $27,500 in ARPA reimbursement through the state which is designated for senior service programs.
She said they are looking at a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica at a price of just over $37,000 with the C.O.A. paying for the difference out of their own budget. Duff said in the current economy it is not possible to get quotes from dealers that can be guaranteed for a long enough time period to go through the C.O.A. Board and the Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Tom Matthew requested that the vehicle be purchased from a Branch County dealership.
Formal action is expected to be taken by Commissioners on Tuesday.
