COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve concurrent prison sentences of between 18 months and 10 years on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered guilty pleas to three felony counts of Breaking and Entering.
36-year-old William Sowards originally had six criminal cases filed against him in connection with B and E complaints that were reported between last October and this past February.
The break ins were reported at Pines Behavioral Health, Karim Healthcare, Cornwell Computers, Virginia Manor Apartments, Snyder’s Laundry Mat and the Coldwater Golf Course.
In exchange for his pleas, all other charges were dismissed but Sowards will have to pay a sizable amount of restitution in all of the cases that were filed against him. The final amount was unknown as of Monday.
Charges that were dismissed included Breaking and Entering a Coin Machine, Possession of Burglary Tools and Malicious Destruction of Personal Property over $200 but less than $1,000.
Sowards was given credit for 148 days already served. He was arrested by the Michigan State Police February 13 following a break-in at the Coldwater Golf Course clubhouse.
