COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An audit of Branch County finances from last year showed the County received the highest available rating but revenues decreased in 2021 mainly due to a reduction in Cares Act funding while expenses increased by about half of the inflation rate or about four percent.
Aaron Stevens of Maner Costerian presented the 2021 Audit to the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session last Thursday.
He said next year’s audit will reflect an even greater reduction of nearly $1.3 million in revenues. He pointed out there will be the absence of the Jail operations millage of approximately $900,000.
In addition, a $450,000 loss of revenues is also expected for the use of Marijuana fees on funding the transition of Tier II employees to Tier I, which is a perpetual annual expense.
The Commissioners are expected to formally accept the Audit report on Tuesday afternoon.
