UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Fire Department has received two new thermal imaging cameras thanks to community donations.
The cameras are in service and on the trucks to help firefighters find “hotspots” during a fire.
Fire Chief Scott Stevens and Assistant Chief Scott Robey were on hand Monday night at the Union City Village Council meeting to show how the camera operates.
The $3,500 purchase was made possible solely through community donations with the Union City Rotary Club donating $2,500.
Ten others donated $100 each to make up the difference.
All funding was obtained in less than 24 hours.
