BURR OAK, MI (WTVB) – A 27-year-old Sturgis man is facing multiple charges following a pursuit involving police from two counties on Monday.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says deputies from his department tried to stop a vehicle on Burr Oak Road near Clinton Street in the Village of Burr Oak for multiple motor vehicle violations.
The suspect vehicle then fled with Deputies in pursuit.
The pursuit continued on Ackey Road where the suspect left the road and went through some fields causing property damage.
Lillywhite says the pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle crashed near U.S. 12.
A short foot chase took place before the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect is being charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting and Obstructing, Operating under the Influence of Drugs, and Malicious Destruction of Property.
Assisting Agencies were Michigan State Police, the Sturgis Police Department, the Colon Police Department, the Branch County Sheriff’s Office, the Bronson Police Department, the Burr Oak Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.
