COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Fort Wayne man who was charged in connection with an April 2021 crash at the intersection of Fremont and Copeland Roads has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
33-year-old Evan Lindsey Kerr waived his District Court preliminary examination that was originally scheduled for Thursday.
He is now scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference in Circuit Court on August 1.
Kerr has been charged with two counts of OUI causing serious injury, reckless driving causing serious impairment of bodily functions and moving violation causing serious impairment of bodily functions.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department said at the time of the crash that a pickup truck driven allegedly by Kerr failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 69-year-old James Wagenknecht of Hamilton, Indiana.
Wagenknecht suffered numerous fractures in the crash.
Jim, please keep giving us updates on the status of the criminal charges. I’ll happily pay the Court the money for the file, but want to do it once the case is concluded. I know this kid and he has been in trouble and juvenile detentions since an early ternager. Even broke into one of the facilities in house infirmaries to steal drugs. Vehicle theft, drugs and guns have all been his past. I’ll bet there was a gun in his truck or he threw it in the field.
Any updates on the case status for this guy ?
