COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was formally charged with seven counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material during an arraignment last Saturday in Branch County District Court.
62-year-old James Logan Neary was also charged with using a computer to commit a crime following an investigation by the Coldwater Police Department and Michigan State Police.
After being notified that Neary allegedly had child sexually abusive material on his computer, Coldwater Police obtained a search warrant and seized numerous hard drives, computers and devices from his residence.
A search of the devices was completed by the Michigan State Police.
According to Branch County court documents, the State Police found at least two videos and thousands of photographs of alleged child sex abuse.
Not guilty pleas were entered on all of the counts and bond was set at $75,000.
Neary will be represented by the Public Defender’s office.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for August 11 with a preliminary exam set for August 16.
