COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Water Department was in the process of updating water infrastructure around the city on Tuesday.
Crews were changing out a Fire Hydrant at U.S. 12 and Marshall and were working on a water main at Perkins and Elm Streets.
City officials say this work may cause discolored water.
Discolored water results from mineral deposits that are stirred up and flushed through the system. Customers experiencing discolored water are encouraged to complete the following steps:
– Slowly begin running cold water out of the faucet.
– Let the water run for 20 minutes. If the water is still brown, repeat the process.
– If the water does not become clear after this process, call the CBPU at (517) 279-9531.
During this time, customers may want to refrain from doing their laundry, as it may cause discoloration/staining of their clothes or household items.
The CBPU Water Department estimates that they will be complete, and water should return to normal by Wednesday morning.
If you have any questions, contact the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities at (517) 279-9531.
