JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy says they will have over 350 crews working on Tuesday to help restore power in the southern half of the Lower Peninsula.
After nearly 175,000 customers lost power at the height of the storms, over 114,000 were without electricity on Tuesday morning.
Consumers says the Monday afternoon storms knocked down trees, limbs and power lines in 37 counties and that there were more than 2,000 downed wires throughout their service territory.
At mid morning, there were 2,775 customers without power in Branch County while 19,770 customers in Calhoun County and 3,905 Hillsdale County customers were still out.
The energy provider says restoration times can vary depending on the extent of the damage.
There were nearly two dozen reports of trees and wires down in Branch County. The Branch County Road Commission managed to clear fallen trees and all roads were opened early Tuesday morning.
While there were no school delays in Branch County on Tuesday, the storms forced Marshall, Homer and Harper Creek schools to shut down for the day since they had no power.
