ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating alleged violations of Indiana’s Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
29-year-old Dominique L. Morton of Fremont, Indiana was taken into custody by Sheriff’s detectives on Thursday following an investigation into several allegations that Morton was in violation of Indiana’s Sex and Violent Offender Registry law.
The Sheriff’s Department says he is a registered sex offender.
They report Morton moved from Howard County, Indiana back to Steuben County in July and allegedly began residing at a protected address in the 400 block of East Michael Street in Fremont.
Morton also registered an address that he was allegedly not currently living at in Angola while staying at the Fremont address.
Morton was booked into the Steuben County Jail on two counts of Failure to Register as a Sex or Violent Offender with a Previous Conviction.
The case remains under investigation and additional charges may be sought.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office in the investigation were the Fremont Police Department and several tips received from the public.
