COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Planning Commission approved an updated version of the County’s proposed Master Plan on Wednesday morning and sent it on to the County Board of Commissioners.
It was originally scheduled to be adopted on March 29 by Commissioners but no action was taken on that day after it was discovered it had to be sent back to the Planning Commission so that they can review the changes discussed during the Commissioners previous work session.
Plan Commission Chair Debbie Lounds said the changes and corrections that were made included a clarification on language covering livestock.
The changes also involved language covering green energy sources.
The Planning Commission along with the Southcentral Michigan Planning Council have worked on the plan.
It was updated thanks in part to the controversy several years ago of proposed wind turbines in the northwestern part of the county.
It was also felt an updated Master Plan would benefit development and help communities with grant funding.
Funding for updating the Master Plan was approved by the Board of Commissioners in December of 2019.
