COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As of Wednesday morning, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency was not able to make appointments for persons to receive Moderna or Pfizer booster doses as they prepare to receive the updated COVID-19 booster vaccines.
It’s not known when the new Omicron-specific COVID-19 booster shots are going to arrive at the agency but it’s expected to be over the next few days.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control approved updated boosters last week from Pfizer for those 12 and older and Moderna for persons 18 and older.
The new boosters target both the original COVID-19 strain and omicron’s BA.5 subvariant.
The original December 2020 vaccines can not be used any more as boosters after the FDA authorized the new boosters.
