David Arthur Carus, 58, of Hastings, formerly of Union City, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
David was born November 15, 1963 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Donald and Sue (Buckner) Carus. He graduated from Union City High School in 1981 and moved to Ogden, UT in his 20s.
David worked as a tool and die maker. He also drove truck, as well as served as a trainer for Snyder Trucking and as a safety director in the oil fields of North Dakota. Additionally, David lived in Indiana and in various southern Michigan locations, including Quincy, Coldwater, and Hastings, where he had resided for the past decade.
He was a sincere person who had a genuine heart of gold. David loved God, family and friends. He would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed fishing and loved nature and wildlife. Eventually, he went from hunting to shooting photos instead.
Left to grieve his passing are his children, David Anthony Carus of Battle Creek, Rebecca Carus of Florida, Sarah Hamrick of Oklahoma and Douglas Carus of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Sue Topp of Hastings; his siblings, Dawn (Kevin) Hutchins of Burlington, Brent (Carol) Carus of Quincy, Pam Wilkinson of Tekonsha and Donnie Carus of Idaho; and his girlfriend, Christina Lavergne of Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
