READING, MI (WTVB) – DMCI Broadband, LLC of Reading has announced they been awarded over $6.3 million in funding from the USDA Re-Connect 3 program to expand fiber internet connectivity in Hillsdale and Branch Counties.
The company submitted of an application last February.
The Re-Connect loan and Grant Program in a nation-wide program that furnishes loans and grants to provide funds for the costs of construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in eligible rural areas.
The Re-Connect program accepted applications for over $1.1 billion in funds across the U.S..
The funds were awarded after a competitive evaluation process from a pool of 166 other applications.
DMCI said in a news release they will provide over 90 miles of fiber installation, reaching over 1,400 homes and businesses.
This network expansion includes several projects that will be completed between Spring 2023 and Fall 2027.
