Evelyn A. Swift, 100, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at Matteson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Evelyn was born May 19, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio to Frank & Theresa (Nowakowski) Printke. She married Gordon Culp in April of 1943, he died in April of 1944 while serving in the US Army during WWII. Evelyn married Ethen Swift on January 26, 1946 in Bronson, he preceded her in death on January 13, 1993.
Mrs. Swift was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She worked at Maxitrol in Colon for 25 years, retiring in 2011 at the age of 89. Evelyn had previously worked at the Coldwater Coat Factory, Dancers in Bronson, Lamb Knit in Colon and the Community Health Center.
Evelyn was a member of St. Mary’s Church, where she belonged to the Rosary Society and was active with her children in 4-H, helping with Home Economics. She enjoyed flower gardening, attending her son’s wrestling matches and especially loved going to the casino and playing Bingo.
Evelyn is survived by her children Wanda Post of Cummings, GA, Sandra (LeRoy) Dow of Bronson, Richard (Clarice) Swift of Middlebury, IN, Jacqueline Alcorn of Abbeville, AL, Robert (Kim) Swift of Bronson; her sister-in-law Wanda Printke of Coldwater; 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 15 great, great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brothers Bernard and Frank Printke and her great grandsons Taylor and Lance Herman.
