COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two suspects who Branch County authorities say were involved in a series of crimes during the first week of January of 2022 entered into plea agreements with prosecutors on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
35-year-old Jason Work entered no contest pleas to third degree fleeing and eluding and to first degree home invasion. The rest of the charges are being dismissed in exchange for the pleas. Work is scheduled to be sentenced on October 24.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old co-defendant Lilyan Blankenship entered guilty pleas during a pre-trial conference to charges of second degree retail fraud and assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. The rest of the charges are being dropped in exchange for her pleas. Blankenship is scheduled to be sentenced on October 31.
Are these the only charges that stuck with Blankenship? Why did Work get harsher charges?
