COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Democratic nominee for the newly drawn Fifth Congressional District has launched his campaign.
Bart Goldberg calls himself, “a problem-solving moderate Democrat from Berrien County who believes that the government’s most important role is to level the playing field for hard working folks, everyday people. We should be strengthening rights, not taking them away, making it easier for individuals and families to make their own decisions.”
Goldberg says he stands for getting inflation under control by breaking supply chain bottlenecks, fighting price gouging by giant corporations, bringing gas prices under control, and supporting local businesses.
On the abortion issue, Goldberg says he supports women’s rights and that the decision overturning Roe v Wade was an affront to the autonomy of women.
That’s in stark contrast to Republican incumbent Congressman Tim Walberg who is strongly pro life.
A statement from Goldberg’s campaign said Wahlberg espouses far right extremism, denies environmental protections in spite of climate change, thinks he should have more rights over women’s bodies than they do, and even voted against making insulin more accessible for those who need it.
Goldberg is a native of Louisville, Kentucky who now calls New Buffalo his home.
