STEUBEN COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department arrested three suspects on Wednesday after an armed home owner confronted two of the suspects during a daytime residential burglary in the 5600 block of East Division Road in Scott Township.
The initial report indicated that the homeowner came home to find that the residence had been burglarized and located two men still inside.
According to a Sheriff’s Department statement, just prior to confronting the intruders, the homeowner armed himself with a firearm before locating them hiding inside a locked bedroom.
During the confrontation, the homeowner discharged the firearm twice but no one was struck or injured.
One suspect fled through a window and then fled the area in a vehicle. The other suspect remained at the scene.
The suspect that fled was later located and taken into custody. The suspect who remained at the scene was identified as 28-year old Blake William Harris of Hamilton, Indiana.
The suspect that fled the scene was identified as 49-year-old Ricky Lee Harget of Angola.
Harris and Harget were booked into the Steuben County Jail. Both were charged with burglary to a dwelling.
Harget is facing additional charges of burglary to a structure and unlawful use of a police radio.
A third suspect identified as 28 year old Troy Alexander Polk of Angola was later taken into custody by Sheriff’s detectives. Polk was booked into the Steuben County Jail on a charge of aiding in burglary to a dwelling. The incident remains under investigation and additional charges may be sought.A majority of the property allegedly taken during the burglary was recovered following the execution of a search warrant and returned to the victim.
I think they should throw the book at these three it’s high time people who take thing’s that doesn’t belong to them learn it’s very serious and stop slapping them on the wrist and throw them under the Jail but that’s just my opinion…..
