COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Organizers of a crowdfunding campaign to help relocate the Children’s Museum of Branch County to the Taylor’s building in downtown Coldwater have announced the first donations.
As of Thursday morning, 18 individuals and organizations have contributed funds, putting the campaign at 30 percent of its goal.
Southern Michigan Bank & Trust hit the “Everbright” level for sponsors as they contributing $10,000 to the project.
The City of Coldwater and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced the crowdfunding campaign last week.
The campaign is being offered through the Michigan-based crowdfunding platform Patronicity.
If the campaign reaches its crowdfunding goal of $50,000 by October 28, the project will win a matching grant with funds made possible by the Michigan EDC’s Public Spaces Community Places program.
The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority is renovating nearly 7,000 square feet of interior space in the Taylor’s Building. Funds from the campaign and community support will be used for numerous improvements at the new museum.
