UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers now control their own destiny in the Big 8 Conference as they rallied for a 20-14 victory over the Homer Trojans before a packed house at Alumni Field on Friday night.
Homer scored the only touchdown of the first half as quarterback Davey Mohn scored from 24 yards out and threw a two point conversion pass to Kane Blatter which the Trojans ahead 8-0.
Owen Jackson’s one yard touchdown put the Chargers on the board with 7:21 left in the third quarter but a missed two point conversion left Homer with a 8-6 lead.
Mohn’s 62 yard touchdown gave Homer a 14-6 lead. Jackson’s second TD from two yards out and Riley Laird’s two point conversion with 1:44 left in the third tied the game at 14-14.
The Chargers took the lead for good as Dylon McDonald scored a ten yard touchdown with 4:55 left in regulation.
Landyn Crance’s interception with a minute to go sealed the win as Union City improved to 4-0 in the Big 8 and 4-1 overall.
Jackson finished with 106 yards on 24 carries while quarterback Elijah Payne passed for 65 yards.
Union City had 191 yards of total offense while Homer had 223 total yards
