COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved the introduction of a one year agreement on Monday night with a non-profit corporation formed by community members who want to explore grants and other funding mechanisms to turn the former Putnam Funeral Home into a community center.
City Attorney Megan Angell says the key features in the lease include the absence of cash rent from the group.
The group proposes that they perform routine maintenance and snow removal and that volunteers continue to clean and freshen the interior.
The group will purchase a policy of general liability insurance for its activities, while the building will continue to be covered by the City’s insurance policy with respect to damage or casualty to the building.
The next regular meeting at which the agreement might be given final approval would be during the Council meeting on November 14.
