COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital Obstetrics Unit staff has received another honor.
They were recently awarded the Platinum Award for the Michigan Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health otherwise known as MI AIM.
The program is a nationally data driven maternal safety and quality improvement initiative. It is both national and state-to-state.
The goal is to help reduce the maternal mortality and morbidity rates throughout the state and nation.
The United States continues to have high infant mortality rates (5.4 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2020 according to the Center for Disease Control).
The initiative focuses on reducing this by implementing safety bundles to guide care. Some of these bundles focus on post-partum hemorrhage, Hypertension in pregnancy, reducing primary cesarean sections and more.
The staff at ProMedica Coldwater participate in the safety bundles as a way to strive to provide the safest care and to help our mothers and babies have a healthy and safe start.
Dusti Donbrock, RN who helps to spearhead the MI AIM initiative, says, “This honor means a lot to our unit here at ProMedica Coldwater, because it symbolizes the commitment we have to providing the best and safest care to our patients and families.”
