COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Organizers of a crowdfunding campaign to help relocate the Children’s Museum of Branch County to the Taylor’s building in downtown Coldwater have announced a second Everbright level sponsor.
Coldwater Economic Development Coordinator Audrey Tappenden told the Downtown Development Authority on Wednesday morning a contribution from Doctor G. David and Del Rubley has pushed the campaign past the halfway point of its $50,000 goal.
There have been other large donations.
Tappenden said a funding gap for the project has been lowered considerably.
The City of Coldwater and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently announced the crowdfunding campaign. The campaign is being offered through the Michigan-based crowdfunding platform Patronicity.
If the campaign reaches its crowdfunding goal by October 28, the project will win a matching grant with funds made possible by the Michigan EDC’s Public Spaces Community Places program.
The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority is renovating nearly 7,000 square feet of interior space in the Taylor’s Building. Funds from the campaign and community support will be used for numerous improvements at the new museum.
Donations can made by visiting patronicity.com/cmbc.
