Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail in Union City, MI 49094.
A time of visiting will be held just prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., also at the Lighthouse.
Nova was the devoted wife of the Rev. Joseph A. Fralick of Coldwater for nearly 64 years before his death in 2021.
She is the mother of five surviving children: Andrew (Virginia) Fralick, Rebecca (Rick) Nesbitt, Jonathan (Patricia) Fralick, Judith (Brian) Farrell and Joanna (Robert) Gould; proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and doting “Gigi” of 31 great grandchildren.
Upon graduation from Coldwater High School in 1957, she married then began an exciting life as a pastor’s wife.
She worked countless jobs over the years as a receptionist and school secretary, nurses’ aide and most recently a salesclerk, to help support the family. She worked tirelessly in the church as a children’s director, song leader, ladies group leader, janitor and anywhere else she was needed. With all that, she still seemed always to have time for her children’s needs. Nova would stay up all night sewing clothing or cheerleading costumes; she would cook daily, delicious meals from scratch for her family of seven – and was the consummate hostess to many church dignitaries, locals, and to anyone in need.
Nova experienced over 20 moves during her marriage, developing a great knack for decorating. She could make a shack into a beautiful cozy home for her family on a shoestring budget. Her priority was always her family.
In her spare moments and later in life, she enjoyed reading just about anything she could get her hands on, but especially Amish stories by Janette Oke. She also loved being outdoors in her beautiful yard growing all sorts of lovely flowers. She could make anything bloom.
By far, though, her favorite thing to do was to visit with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and possibly have a competitive game of Chinese checkers or teach them a lesson in sewing, or cooking or gardening. Time with them brought her endless joy. She sincerely prayed for each of them daily. She will be sorely missed by all.
Nova’s faith in the Lord never waivered throughout her lifetime – even through some very trying situations. Her faith and her family brought her joy and contentment. To the very end of her life, she was concerned more for others than herself. She didn’t have much but always happily gave what she had to others. She was a mom to all.
A gentle smile, a warm hug and a little swat on the arm was her way of saying I love you.
Nova epitomized the Proverbs 31 woman and we honor her for that.
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” (Proverbs 31:29)
Memorial Contributions can be made out to the Christian Care Nursing Center. There are several different options to donate to for the nursing center: A Gigi bench, which is for grandparents to be able to sit and watch their grandchildren play outside, a raised garden bed for flowers, and books for their library. Please designate on the memo line which you would like to contribute to.
All donations can be sent to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation.
