COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While the ribbon cutting and open house is today for the new Coach Eby Home Store at the site of the former Habitat for Humanity Re-Store in Coldwater, the Branch County Community Foundation has announced it is taking over the mortgage portfolio from Habitat for Humanity.
When the decision was made for the Branch County Habitat for Humanity to dissolve, their Board of Directors needed to find similar non-profit organizations in the community to receive their assets. The Re-Store was given to the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center.
Income from the mortgage portfolio will be used to benefit or assist in promoting affordable housing, managed under the sole discretion of the Branch County Community Foundation.
Community Foundation Executive Director Erica Heminger says “Although the Community is losing a valuable resource with Branch County Habitat for Humanity closing, the great work done by Branch County Habitat for Humanity the past three decades will continue to inspire the communities work from their mission of bringing people together and building homes, communities, and hope.”
