UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – As part of a drinking water asset management grant the Village of Union City received from the state and is paying for, work will be conducted in right of ways around the Village during the next couple of weeks.
You may see village crew as well as contractors with Apex Excavation working in those areas.
The work is intended to identify public and private water service lines, as required by the State of Michigan and the Department of Great Lakes and Energy.
Vactor Trucks are being used to expose and identify customer service lines at the road side.
Village officials says all points exposed will be repaired and in most cases this will take place in the right of way.
EGLE requires the village expose a randomly generated sampling of the customer base, and about 140 locations around the Village were selected to expose and identify.
Letters will be going out to those homes and residents that were selected.
