COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Kellogg Community College Foundation has received a four-year, $80,000 grant from the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Foundation to support the group’s continuing Promise Scholarship Program.
The program supports students in the health care and/or industrial trades certificate or associate degree programs at Kellogg Community College and provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to help ensure successful degree or certificate completion.
The grant supports the Rotary Foundation’s project goal of attracting more students to community college programs, working with community colleges to potentially expand regional program offerings, improving successful completion rates with these programs, reducing local student debt and retaining critical talent in Branch County.
The Promise Scholarship opportunity launched in 2019 and through May 2022 awarded 67 scholarships to 49 students.
Thirty students have been awarded scholarships for the Fall 2022/Spring 2023 academic year.
Nineteen students are studying Nursing, six are studying Dental Hygiene, two are in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program, two are in the Radiography Program and one is in the MRI Program.
Qualified Promise Scholarship applicants must graduate from a Branch County high school or reside in Branch County, be accepted in a KCC Nursing, Allied Health or Industrial Trades certificate or associate degree program and demonstrate financial need.
