UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Board of Education selected Jennifer Gautsche on Monday night to fill a board vacancy.
She was one of two candidates who were interviewed by the board after Kyle Miller stepped down last month in order to spend more time with his family.
The other candidate to express an interest in the position was Sean O’Kon.
Gautsche and her husband have two children currently enrolled in Union City Schools.
She said in her letter to the Board, “As a Board of Education member, I will stand up for what I believe is in the best interest of the students and school district. I will listen carefully to the students, teachers and staff members of the schools as well as parents and the greater community. I understand that this position is not something to be taken lightly. I feel that I have the ability
and drive to be an asset to the Board of Education.”
Gautsche will fill out the balance of Miller’s term which expires on December 31, 2024.
Meanwhile, the Board voted on Monday night to amend the bylaws and change the board member terms of office from six years to four years.
