Roger was born September 15, 1947 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Clark E. and Ethel G. (Blowers) Lewis. He graduated from Athens High School in 1966.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1966-1968. In civilian life, Roger drove truck for Stanton Farms, Beatrice Foods, Snyder Trucking, Pontoni’s, House of Raeford and then for Stanton Farms again until retiring in 2021.
He liked hanging out at the VFW in Athens, the American Legion in Colon and riding his Honda Gold Wing. He took many trips on it, including to the bike rally in Sturgis, SD, without trailering it. Roger loved to have a good time and razzed family and friends that he was “the good-looking one.” He was quirky and very kind. Nobody was a stranger to him.
Roger is survived by his siblings, Lenna Posey of Lakeville, MN, Margaret Rumsey of Union City and Janice Lewis of Mendon; sisters-in-law, Vivian Lewis of Sherwood and Christina Lewis of Fulton; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Richard and Vicki Ingersoll of Athens.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Norman Lewis and Leslie Lewis; a sister, Patricia Swank; a brother-in-law, Richard Swank; and a niece, Vickie Rumsey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Centrica Care Hospice, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
