COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Asama Coldwater Manufacturing, Incorporated and the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance announced on Wednesday Asama will be investing $19 million to add 39,000 square feet to its existing facility at 180 Asama Parkway and to purchase machining and paint equipment.
The company says the expansion will create 32 new jobs for machine operators, maintenance associates, supervisors, inspectors, and fork truck operators.
The expansion is scheduled to begin in 2023 and is expected to be done the following year.
ACM says the expansion and investment in equipment will help the company fulfill new requirements to manufacture brake parts for automotive industry OEMs in North America, using the provided design specifications.
ACM Vice President Keith Teachout says, “ACM has expanded operations in Coldwater, Michigan several times during our history and we look forward to expanding and investing in Coldwater, Michigan, once again. This expansion will add more value to our operations, broaden our customer base and address the growth ACM continues to experience.
Working with state and local officials, ACM plans to apply for incentives tied to its investment and job creation. This includes applying for a tax abatement that would abate taxes on improvements for up to 12 years.
Branch County Economic Growth Alliance Director Lisa Miller says, “Asama has had a strong presence in Coldwater since its founding in 1996. When this expansion is complete, the company will be celebrating its 30 th anniversary in our community. We look forward to supporting the company’s continued growth in 2024 and beyond.”
