COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Parma Western scored 16 unanswered second half points to lift themselves to a 35-28 win against upset-minded Coldwater on Senior Night at Cardinal Field.
Western got on the board with 16 seconds left in the first quarter, but the Cardinals outscored the Panthers 21-7 in the second quarter to take a 21-13 halftime lead. Coldwater held on to a 28-27 advantage after three quarters, but Western quarterback Ty Keeler scored on a 1-yard keeper with 3:50 left to give the Panthers the lead that they would keep the rest of the way. The Cardinals’ final drive was snuffed out at the Western 30 with 20 seconds left.
Zach Coffing led the Coldwater offense with 106 yards rushing on 18 carries and a touchdown; he was also 7/15 passing for 115 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. Hunter Munson had 6 receptions for 110 yards along with 7 carries for 39 yards and a rushing score. Jackson Reilly had 5 carries for 27 yards and a TD, and Jack Ruden had 2 catches for 34 yards and a score. Garrett Johns led the defensive effort with 10 tackles.
The Cardinals wrapped up the season at 1-8 overall, 1-6 in the Interstate 8. The Panthers secured a slot in the MHSAA Playoffs at 6-3 overall and finished league play at 5-2.
